With experience in multiple aspects of emergency management, including hazard and risk assessment, plan development and sustainment, exercise development and delivery, training analysis, after-action reviews, public alerting and emergency notification systems, April seeks innovative and fit-to-size solutions for diverse organizations.
An ICS expert, April has supported the response to significant incidents across Alberta including the 2011 Slave Lake Fire, the 2013 Alberta Floods and 2016 Horse River Wildfire. April possesses significant experience in project management, leading program and process improvements, and customizing training initiatives for small and large-scale organizations. Vern Elliott Executive Coach
Vern Elliott, an Associate Consultant, occupies a senior management position within a fire and emergency medical response organization. Vern has 25+ years of experience as an advanced care paramedic, firefighter and fire officer, and is a technical rescue expert in the municipal and industrial setting. He holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration, is a Certified Executive Coach, and FEMA AHIMT Type 3 Incident Commander.
With 10 years of managerial experience, in a municipal integrated fire department, Vern brings a solid operational background in effective emergency operation design, aligning emergency services with technology, and strategic planning. Vern is highly skilled in developing individuals and teams, leading change management initiatives, and delivering customized training. Vern is a member of the Alberta First Responder Radio Communications System (AFRRCS) governance council.
Iain Bushell MBA, EFO
Iain Bushell, an Associate Consultant, is an influential and strategic leader. His 25 years of experience includes leading integrated response and emergency management organizations in Canada and Scotland. An experienced Royal Canadian Air Force officer, paramedic, firefighter, and fire chief, Iain has responded to emergencies from coast to coast. Influential in the establishment of Incident Management Teams (IMT) in Alberta, Iain lead the response to the 2013 Alberta floods and 2016 Horse River wildfire.
Iain has held executive municipal and national portfolios and excels at creating strategic plans at all levels, conducting service reviews and building performance management frameworks. With a strong background in regional and industrial collaboration, Iain has a deep understanding of transformational change, internal communications and quality management. Iain has extensive leadership education and is a graduate of the prestigious US National Fire Academy as an Executive Fire Officer.
